- Salman Khan's effigy burnt
Muslims in Nalgonda on Wednesday burnt the effigy of the Bollywood actor Salman Khan in protest against his statement supporting BJP Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Speaking to press Abdul Raheem Khan said that the actor had no right to speak on behalf of the Muslim community and said that his statements implied that all Muslims should vote for Modi. They demanded the actor to withdraw his statements besides tendering an apology to Muslim community.
- Rajya Sabha member Hanumantha Rao writes to Sonia
Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao in a letter to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi urged her to keep away certain selfish persons who entered the politics for their personal gain. He wanted her to pass a resolution in the coming AICC session beginning on January 17. He said that 'they grab the opportunities which genuinely belong to real workers of the party. Further, those people shift loyalties very swiftly and join whichever party that comes to power', said Hanumantha Rao. He wanted her to deny party ticket to Parliament or Assembly elections.
- Visalandhra Mahasabha leaders detain Union Minister Killi Kruparani
Visalandhra Mahasabha leaders detained Union Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Killi Kruparani on Tuesday demanding her active participation to stall bifurcation beginning with her resignation. They blocked her way for over a half an hour before she decided to talk to them. She was in Kurnool to attend the 54th birthday function of spiritual man Bala Sai Baba and they blocked her road when she was to leave for the venue.
- Telangana JACs sought Chief Justice Intervention
The Joint Action Committees of the unions of Telangana officers, employees, teachers and workers has sought the intervention of the Chief Justice of High Court in initiating disciplinary action against leaders of Seemandhra employees' union for consigning the copies of AP State Reorganization Bill 2013 in Bhogi fire. They requested him to take suo motu action and requested to issue directions to the State Government.
- AAP membership drive gets good response
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that began it's free membership drive on January 10 in the State is getting good response. AAP has announced that those interested could fill the membership form in the website: www.aamaadmiparty.org or send sms by mentioning name, STD code and Assembly constituency to 07798220033/08082807715/08082807716. The forms could also be had from APP volunteers or a missed call could be given on07798220033. The membership drive ends on January 26.
- 'Jagan got bail only on directions of Sonia Gandhi', alleged TDP MP Ramesh
Speaking to media on Wednesday in Chittoor, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP CM Ramesh said that YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy got bail only on the directions of AICC president Sonia Gandhi. He said that he is supporting the Congress for the division of the State in the guise of internationalist and acting on the directions of Sonia Gandhi, he said. Ramesh said that the leaders of Seemandhra had promptly responded to the unwarranted comments of Union Minister Jaipal Reddy but unfortunately YSRCP leaders did not responded.
- President may extend 10 days' time for discussion on draft Bill.
In view of the continuous disruption over the discussion on AP State Reorganization Bill 2013, sources said that a ten day maximum time could be given, if the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly requests. It may be recalled here that the President of India has given time six weeks' time that ends on January 23 to discuss on the draft bill which could not be done due to protests from both the regions. In view of the earlier precedents, the President may extend time if the Assembly requests for it, said sources.
- 'Six LPG gas cylinders are enough', says Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi
Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi made sensational comments on the supply of sub subsidized gas cylinders to the people. It may be recalled that the Union Government has enhanced the supply of subsidized gas cylinders from six to nine following hue and cry from the people. These comments by the Union Minister in her native village Bapatla on the eve of Sankranti created sensation. She even went to say that a survey too said that six cylinders are enough and added that those below BPL families are selling the cylinders, she said.
- 'Kiran Kumar Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu are the champions of division', says Jupudi Prabahakara Rao
YSRCP official spokesperson Jupudi Prabahakara Rao speaking to press on Wednesday advised the TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu to take pension at Naravarapalli. He said that Chandrababu Naidu's mental health condition is causing concern and even does not where the party is going. He alleged that the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who had given power point presentation against the division of the State is extending all his possible help for the division. He alleged that both Chandrababu Naidu and Kiran Kumar Reddy are the real champions of the division of the State. Prabahakara Rao said that the Speaker, Chief Minister or even the Opposition Party leader could not say on the issue of voting on the bill in the Assembly.
- Oppose T-Bill in Assembly, Anam gives call
Anam Vivekananda Reddy speaking to media on Wednesday in Nellore asked all the Seemandhra MLAs to oppose the AP State Reorganization Bill 2013 in the Assembly. He said had the agitation begin earlier by six months, it should have come up for discussion, he opined. He alleged that senior leaders like Jaipal Reddy are demanding division of the State for their political posts.
- RTA officials seize five buses
Continuing their raids on the private operators that are plying buses in violation of rules, RTA officials on Wednesday seized five buses on the national High of Hyderabad –Bangalore. The seized buses belongs to SVR, Orange, Kesineni, Diwakar and Jabbar travels.
- TDP will once again bring back the past glory
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will be back to power and once bring back the past glory said party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu.Speaking to media on Tuesday who was in Narapalli village to participate pongal said that how YSRCP will win 30 MP seats if the contests in 25 MP seats. He charged that Jagan Mohan Reddy illegally earned lakhs of crores of rupees through back doors. Kiran Kumar Reddy became the Chief Minister through sealed cover and what he did for the people for the last three years, he questioned.
On the performance of TDP, he said that he and NT Rama Rao did what they could for the people by creating records. He said that the cell phones, national high ways, Airways are only because of the excellent rule of the TDP. He said that they will give good governance that too corruption free governance, he said.
- Danish woman gang raped
A 51 year old Danish woman allegedly gang raped by a group of men near New Delhi Railway station on Tuesday night. In her statement to the police, she said that she was in the country for the last one week and had checked in Hotel Amax. When she was returning to hotel on Tuesday night after she lost her way to the hotel and when she was enquiring for it, she was sexually assaulted by vagabonds near Delhi Railway Station she complained. She was robbed of her belongings including cash and other valuables. She after reaching the hotel informed the same to Danish embassy. Delhi police on the basis of information by the victim police detained six suspects and a case of gang rap u/s 376 G(2) of IPC and robbery has been registered.
- Kidnapped boy murdered
Navaaz (16) who was kidnapped three days ago in Rainbazzar in Hyderabad was killed by his friends. They informed Navaaz mother Aneesa Begam over phone that they have killed him. She who informed the same to the police who intensified their investigation. They took two friends of him into custody who admitted that they killed and thrown the body into a drainage at Yakutpura. Police said that the reason for murder is a dispute for Rs.2,000.
- Sub Inspector Mallikharjun Bande died while undergoing treatment
Karnataka Rosa Police Station Sub Inspector Mallikharjun Bande died in the early hours of Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Yasoda hospital. It may be recalled that he sustained bullet injuries in an encounter with rowdy sheeter Munna on the 8th of this month and was rushed to Yasoda hospital for sophisticated medical care. According to his wife who spoke to press on Tuesday in Somajiguda press club said that he sustained serious injuries in an encounter with Munna of Kalakutta gang of Chotarajan gang member. In the encounter, Munna died while a couple of bullets pierced through his head that resulted him serious and was rushed to Yasoda for better medical care. She appealed the government to make arrangements for shifting him to abroad or even to AIIMS. The Home Minister and Minister in charge of the district called on him and assured to make arrangements for his shifting.
