  • Gandra Venkataramana Reddy speech in Assembly
    Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy speaking in the Assembly said that the AP State Reorganization Bill 2013 is in accordance with the Constitution and it is not in order to obstruct a debate on it. The decision of division was taken after a long and series of discussions and urged the members to participate in the discussion. He reminded that Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy has not accepted the proposal to give the Deputy Chief Minister post to the Telangana people and added they violated the gentlemen agreement in 1956 itself. He said that the people of Telangana are being considered as second class citizen. He said Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chandrababu and Vijayamma had earlier said that they are for the division of the State and even TDP has incorporated the same in its 2009 election manifesto, he reminded.
  • Eetela Rajendar speaks in Assembly on AP State Reorganization 2013 Bill
    TRS floor leader Eetela Rajender participating in the debate has welcomed the Bill. He said that they are happy for the long cherished dream of separate Telangana and 60 long years waiting for it is going to be materialised. He said that so far we have been living as brothers and will continue the same spirit in future also. He asked not to look Telangana agitation in a minute way as it is the struggle for the last three generations. Telangana people considers the Bill as a holy book and is unfortunate that some integrationists burnt it, he said. He said late Potti Sriramulu is inspiration for them and reminded that he fought for the same. Eetela wanted Telangana as was in 1956.
  • APSRTC issued orders regularizing contract workers
    APSRTC management on Friday issued orders regularizing 9518 contract drivers and conductors. Out of this, 5093 drivers and 3550 conductors were regularized with effect from September 1, 2013 while 471 drivers and 404 conductors were regularized with effect from November 1, 2013.
  • GHMC seized four cars of Hotel Katriya for default of Rs.3.40 crore tax dues
    The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday executed warrants and seized four cars and some furniture from Sri Lakshmi Gayathri Hotels (Hotel Katriya), Somajiguda, seeking property tax dues amounting to Rs.3.40 crore. According to a press release, the seized vehicles included Toyota Camry, Honda CRV, Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon, according to a press release.
    GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said the hotel management later paid tax of Rs.1 crore by way of three cheques and promised to pay the balance amount within short period.
  • Case registered against TRS MLA Harish Rao
    An FIR has been registered in Rayadurgam Police station on TRS MLA T Harish Rao for allegedly obstructing a police constable from discharging duties.
    It may be recalled here that he staged a protest at a function at the GAME park in which the Chief Minister attended. It is alleged that Harish Rao abused a police constable when he was arrested by the police.
  • Separate steering committee for Telangana, demands Rapolu Anand Bhaskar
    Rajya Sabha member Rapolu Anand Bhaskar has demanded the Congress party central leadership to create a separate screening commi9ttee for Telangana to select candidates for the parliamentary constitutes instead one common one. In a letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, he said that including of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana in the committee headed by Union Minister Vayalar Ravi was giving rise to doubts. He said that two leaders should not get any opportunity to go into the selection process of candidates from Telangana once the new state was formed, he said.
  • Excise Superintendent and SI held on charges of criminal misconduct
    Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday arrested Excise Superintendent of Machilipatnam and Sub-Inspector of East Station, Vijayawada on charges of criminal misconduct. They seized Rs.5 lakh illegal amount from the Excise Sub Inspector during a surprise check on Thursday. He was arrested when was travelling in an APSRTC bus from Machilipatnam to Vijayawada and on verification it was revealed the he had collected the money form bar and restaurants and wine shops in Machilipatnam at the instance of Excise Superintend. They were produced in the ACB court according to a release.
  • BJP proposes 10 amendments to AP State Reorganization Bill 2013
    BJP party leader Y Lakshminarayna submitted a report to the Speaker Nadendla Manohar proposing ten amendments to the AP State Reorganization Bill 2013. In his report, the BJP leader proposed Hyderabad be made common capital for both the States for a period of three years, creation of separate High Courts for these two States, installation of Electricity projects with a capacity of 4,000 MW are some of those proposals. He also suggested scrapping of powers under Article 8 D or being amended in such a way that he should act on the advice of the government, national status to Palamoor lift irrigation system, creation of IIT, IIIT, NIT, Central Universities in the residual Andhra Pradesh, expansion of airports in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati, creation of steel plant in Kadapa and formation of new railway zone.
  • YSRCP proposes deletion of 108 clauses
    YSRCP submitted a memorandum on the amendments wanted deletion of all the 108 clauses (from 1 to 108) in the AP State Reorganization Bill 2013. Explaining their stand, they said that they are opposing the division of the State and is being done in violation of the laid down procedures of the Constitution. The division causes immense injustice to the people in all aspects and against the interests of the people, they said.
  • Yesteryear cine actor's daughter commits suicide
    Yester year's cine actor CP Krishna Rao's daughter committed suicide in Hyderabad on Friday afternoon by hanging herself on a ceiling fan. According to Sub Inspector Bhaskara Rao, N Dhalalkshi is residing in Filmnagar Road No.7, Phase II. Her husband N Narender died some six years ago. She performed the marriages of her two sons who are living separately. Unable to digest of her loneliness, she on Friday afternoon committed suicide by hanging on a ceiling fan, said police sources.
  • TDP Chief promises free water supply if voted to power
    Speaking to DWACRA women groups at NTR Bhavan on Friday, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Nara Chandrababu Naidu assured that free water supply will be given to all if the party is voted to power. TDP women wing president Sobha Hymavathi handed over a cheque of Rs.5,000 to each of the sexually assaulted girls in Nalgonda recently.
  • Two forest officials held for demanding bribe
    Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday arrested two employees of the Forest department – Forest section officer V Venkateswara Naidu and Forest Beat Officer Appalaraju of Araku forest Area in Visakha agency for reportedly demanding and accepting bribes of Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000 for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the transportation of eucalyptus logs.
