Jagan Mohan Reddy slams government over meagre allocation for crop loan waiver
August 25, 2014 - Hyderabad
Initiating the discussion on the AP Budge 2014-2014, the Leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy described the budget as directionless, disappointing and misleading.
Jagan expressed apprehension that like in the past, Chandrababu Naidu may go back on his poll promises. He said that crores of farmers, DWCRA members and unemployed youth have been looking forward for the budget expecting that their dreams will be fulfilled with the assurances of the Chief Minister. However, meagre allocations were made in the budget over crop loan waiver, unemployment allowance and DWCRA among others. He went in detail with statistical reference and judged that the allocations that were made are only meagre.
Jagan charged the ruling government that the ruling government is trying to find excuses of getting out of the promise it made. He wondered that what made the government to change the loan waiver from March 31, 2014 to December 31, 2013.
He said that the government had allocated Rs.599 crore for interest free loans, while it required Rs.2550 crores and in case of pensions, allocations were far less than the required amount. He demanded the government to make public the PRC report and implement the recommendations.
Jagan said that the Government is trying to divert the attention of the people from its failures to keep the promise made by making false allegations against previous governments.
• Continuous interruptions were seen while the Leader of Opposition was speaking on the budget. The Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that ‘Opposition should know the difference between budget estimates, revised budget estimate and accounting’.
• The Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murty said that Opposition party seems to only believe in criticizing the ruling party. It should desist from sating aspirations against the government’.
• Labour Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said ‘White paper is not like Sakshi paper and it only states facts’.
• Dhulipala Narendra said ‘Jagan, who is against loan waiver has no moral right to speak on the budget’.
