'Industrial corridor would be set up from Srikakulam to Chennai', says Sonia Gandhi

Addressing a huge gathering at a public meeting in Guntur, AICC president Sonia Gandhi said that she was happy to visit Guntur, the historic city that reflects the culture of the Telugu people.

Sonia Gandhi reminded that the development of Seemandhra has been incorporated in the AP State Reorganization Bill. Assuring of Industrial corridor right from Srikakulam to Chennai, she promised to create international airports at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada. Sonia Gandhi further promised creation of a separate Railway zone along with a Central University and Petroleum university in Seemandhra. Creation of Dugarajpatnam port in Nellore will be taken up, she said. The region of Seemandhra would enjoy special status for ten years and the Centre will give 90 per cent funds for free and ten per cent as loan for the development. Sonia Gandhi expressed hope that the Seemandhra people would extend cooperation to the Congress party.

The AICC president said she could understand the feeling of the Seemandhra people in the division issue and said that Congress has taken a decision only after consent was given by all parties.
