I & C centre for Andhra Pradesh

The Central Government in principle approved to create an Automated Inspection and Certification Centre (I&C) for the State.

With the establishment of I & C centre, the fitness certificate to vehicles will be issued through computerized system putting a break to the corruption charges being faced in the transport department.

The Union Government has selected seven States to create these centres in an effort bring down the accidents. The Centre has identified Malkapuram in Nalgonda district in the united Andhra Pradesh and following the division of the State, the government approached the Centre for allocation. The Union Government has agreed in principle.

For establishing of I & C centre, nearly Rs.14.50 crore are required for construction of building, machinery and driving track and the Union Government will bear 90 per cent out of the amount and the rest to be borne by the State Government. It is estimated that 9 lakh transport vehicles are plying the roads.
