Himachal Pradesh High Court serves notices on VNR Vignan Jyothi Engineering College

Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered issuance of notices on the management of VNR Vignan Jyothi Engineering College on Friday directing it to let the Court know who had given permission stepping into Beas river.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the status report submitted by the Government and ordered to submit a fresh report. The Court ordered the Divisional Commissioner Mandi to complete inquiry before June 19. Accordingly, Mandi Divisional Commissioner on Friday submitted a report to the court on the incident in which 24 students from VNR College were washed away following release of water from Larji dam. The rescue teams could retrieve only 12 dead bodies and searches are on for the rest.
The report said that the negligence on the part of the officials is the prime reason for the incident. The report said that 450 cusses water was released from the Dam and the officials have not followed the laid down rules and warning system is not in order. Lack of co-ordination between the officials in the Power House is said to be the reason for the incident.
