High Court verdict on counting of municipal election results on Tuesday

Andhra Pradesh High Court is expected to deliver its judgment on whether to postpone the counting till after the general elections or go ahead as per the State Election Commission schedule.
It may be recalled that the Election Commission has already decided to postpone the counting of votes of ZPTC and MPTCs following a directive from Supreme Court.
Sources said that the State Election Commission has asked for a detailed report from district collectors on the c onduct of the general elections if the EVMs utilized in the municipal polls were not emptied and returned. Nearly 15,000 EVMs are used for the elections in nearly 3,990 wards in 145 municipalities and 513 divisions of in 10 Corporations. It said that the Collectors whether there are enough EVMs to conduct the Lok Sabha polls if the municipal election results are put on hold.
