High Court directs GHMC to remove unauthorised hoardings/flexies

A Division Bench of AP High Court on Monday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to remove flexies and hazardous hoardings within a week time.
A Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta, Justice PV Sanjay Kumar have given directions. Dealing with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by Trust for Social Justice, these directions came from the Bench.
On a direction from the Court, GHMC Commissioner said in his report that they had not accorded any permission to put up banners either in private or public places as the government has banned the display of banners on the roads of the twin cities, municipal corporations and Municipalities in the State. However, he said that it permitted hoardings under the relevant Act. He said that 2425 hoardings in its jurisdiction and 740 unauthorised hoarding were detected and 626 were removed while the rest in process.
The Court directed the authorities to remove the unauthorized hoardings/flexies within one week time.
