January 1, 2014 - Hyderabad
Union Minster S Jaipal Reddy in an informal chat with the press on Wednesday said that the Government is expected to table AP State Reorganization Bill-2013 in Parliament in the first week of February.
The Union Minister expressed confidence that it would be approved without any hitch paving way to the formation of new Telangana State. He said that the winter session was concluded on December 18 ahead of two days of its schedule and the government can re-convene the Parliament as it has not been adjourned sine die. On the bill in the Assembly, he said that the opinion of the Assembly has no bearing on the government's intention of introducing the same in Parliament.
Jaipal Reddy said that it is not clear if the government intends to convene short special sessions of Parliament to get the Bill passed or hold it till the budget session of the Parliament to obtain a vote on account before the general elections scheduled in either April or May.
