Government disburses ex-gratia to 24 families of VNR College students

Telangana Government on Thursday disbursed ex-gratia to the 24 families of the students of VNR Vignan Jyothi College of Engineering and Technology who were died in Beas tragedy.
Telangana Home Minister Narayana Narsasimha Reddy said that the cheques sent by Himachal Pradesh Government too were disbursed. He said that Telangana Government immediately responded after knowing of the incident. He said that he had gone to Himachal Pradesh only on the directions of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He directed for speedy completion of the investigation into the tragic incident. Nayani said that stringent action would be taken on the College management.
It may be recalled that 24 students from VNR Vignan Jyothi College of Engineering and Technology from Hyderabad were washed away at Beas River on June 8. The only co- tour guide Prahlad still missing.
The incident happened when Pandoh dam released water without any siren or caution resulting in washing away of the students who were there to take photographs. The students were here along with a faculty member of the college were on an excursion trip to Manali.
