Government issues orders constituting Specified Authority to TTD

The State Government on Monday issued a Government Order constituting a Specified Authority to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The Chief Secretary of Endowments will head the newly constituted the Specified Authority.

The orders that were released b the Principal Secretary (Endowments) JC Sharma said that the Specified Authority was appointed under Section 137 of Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments Act, 1987. Sharma who is currently holding full additional charge as the Principal Secretary Revenue (Endowments) will head the Specified Authority as Chairman with immediate effect.

In the back drop of scrapping Trust Boards to all the temple committees in the State including TTD. The GO comes into immediate effect to make day to day decisions on the affairs of TTD. The current Chief Secretary of Endowments JC Sharma will be the Chairman of the TTD and he will assume the charge on August 28.

BJP that is a having an alliance with the TDP plans to send three of its members to the Board and the name of Bhanu Prakash who was erstwhile of the Board may get a place in the new Board. The Government has also increased the members’ strength to 18 from the existing 15 members.

New Special Darshan from Wednesday:

It may be recalled that the TTD has sold 2500 tickets through net and another 2500 tickets through 9 e-darshan counters in the State that was priced at Rs.300. The tickets were allotted at Hyderabad 850, Visakhapatnam 675, Vijayawada 350, Kurnool 100, Tirupati 200, Nellore 100, Nizamabad 75, Warangal 75 and Anantapur 75 and were sold within minutes of its release. Those who got the tickets will have the darshan between 2pm to 4pm on August 27. TTD decides to sell 18,000 darshan tickets daily and is selling 13,000 tickets from Wednesday under current booking.


Governor releases Brahmotsavam posters
Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday released the wall posters and booklets pertaining to the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara slated to commence from September 25. The Executive Officer MG Gopal and JEO KS Srinivasa Raju explained him about the newly introduced three tier darshan system. Speaking to press, the governor complimented the authorities for the novel idea devoid of the pulling and jostling by the temple staff.
