30 Kg gold ornaments worth over Rs. 23 crore stolen from Tanishq show room
January 25, 2014 - Hyderabad
Some unidentified persons stole 30 kg gold ornaments crore and colour stones worth over Rs.23 from a Tanishq showroom in the busy Panjagutta area in the early hours of Saturday.
Intrudes gained entry into the show room by drilling a hold to the rear wall and made away with the booty. They covered hands with surgical gloves and legs with small gunny bag to prevent the police from collecting finger prints. They also sprinkled chilli powder inside the premises from the sniffer dogs to catch any scent. They broke open the locked counters using an iron rod and made away with gold ornaments and coloured stones said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) KR Nagaraj. However, they did not touch the jewellery displayed on the walls and other chest drawers. Police suspect the involvement of at least three persons in the act and they might have handed over the stolen ornaments to associates waiting outside.
Police suspected the act as that of an inter-State gang.
