General elections in Seemandhra will witness new Congress faces

With nearly three dozen sitting Congress MLAs evincing interest to contest on the flag, the list that is being prepared may likely to include majority of new faces.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief N Raghuveera Reddy takes the list of aspirants to the Congress high command for screening committee's approval. The APCC president along with former PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and party campaign chief K Chiranjeevi on Wednesday left for Delhi for a meeting with the party seniors. According to sources, the Congress party in Seemandhra has received through district units and was suggested by sitting MPs are as many as 1,160 applications for Assembly and 175 for Lok Sabha.

Sources said that Raghuveera Reddy spoke to nearly 35 sitting MLAs to get their consent to contest for the elections. Former Ministers – Md.Ahmedullah and Gade Venkata Reddy sought time while some MLAS wanted tickets for their children. Former Ministers – Kondru Murali Mohan, Botcha Satyanarayana, P Balaraju, Kanna Lakshminarayna, Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, Dokka Manikya Varaprasad and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy's name have been included in the list. Among MPs – Killi Kruparani, Botcha Jhansi, KC Deo, MM Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi, K Bapiraju, Chinta Mohan and Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy have agreed to seek re-election.
