Former Minister Satrucharla eyeing on TDP

March 4, 2014 - Hyderabad

Former Forest & Environment Minister Satrucharla Vijaya Rama Raju is eyeing a TDP ticket to contest the 2014 elections. The news doesn’t come as a surprise as nearly six Congress MLAs from north coastal Andhra have decided to shift their loyalties to the Telugu Desam Party.

Sources close to the minister said that Satrucharla Vijayaramaraju Raju will be meeting leaders and cadre form Pathapatnam in a couple of days to take a final call. Key leaders from Pathapatnam constituency had already met him many times and were pressing for an early decision.

Satrucharla has good hold over Viziangaram and Srikakulam districts and was the first to be elected to Assembly on Janata Party way back in 1978-79. He later shifted to Congress. He was elected as MP thrice in 1969,1991 and 1998 to TDP ticket before being moved to Congress. In 2004 he got elected from Parvathipuram and was inducted to YSR cabinet and later continued in Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy government.
