Former Chief Minister Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy passed away

Former Chief Minister Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy (80) passed away on the early hours of Friday while undergoing treatment at NIMS.
Janardhana Reddy served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 1990 to 1992. He was born at Vakadu in Nellore district on February 20, 1935. His wife N Rajyalakshmi is a former Minister. The couple has four sons. Janardhana Reddy worked as Chief Minister from 1990 to 1992 was was later elected as Member of Parliament for three terms for 12th, 13th and 14th Lok Sabha.
Escaped assignation attempt
The 12th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Janardhana Reddy escaped an assignation attempt by naxal groups near Nellore. Both Janardhana Reddy and his wife N Rajyalakshmi, a minister escaped unhurt.
He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1972-78, MLC 1978-1984, Minister for Revenue, Industries, Power and Agriculture in 1978-1983, 1989-90, PCC president in 1988-89, 1987. He was elected as MP from Bapatla during 19898-99, second term MP for 13th Lok Sabha from 1999-2004 from Narasaraopet and third term from Visakhapatnam for the 14th Lok Sabha from 2004-2009. He was re-elected to Rajya Sabha in 2010.
