Dharmana and Kruparani families hit hard in Seemandhra

May 16, 2014 - Hyderabad

The Dharmana family's domination over Srikakulam district has come to an end with the defeat of both Dharmana Prasada Rao and his brother Krishnadas in Srikakulam and Narasannapeta constituencies respectively. Dharmana Prasada Rao was a former minister, while his brother is the sitting MLA.

Political analysts believe that the alleged rowdyism and corruption by the followers of Prasada Rao, demolition of a Ram temple and non-acceptance of his entry into YSRCP by party cadre led to his defeat. The caste factor also played a key role as it is said that Kalinga and Kalinga Vysya communities worked against him.

Former Union Minister Killi Kruparani also suffered a shock defeat as she even lost her deposit in Srikakulam Parliamentary Constituency. Her husband Killi Rammohana Rao was defeated in Tekkali Assembly seat.
