Crisis in YSR Congress as MPs SPY Reddy and Butta Renuka are likely to join Telugu Desam

May 25, 2014 - Hyderabad

In just a few days after winning majority in Assembly elections, Telugu Desam Party has more good news as elected leaders from YSR Congress Party are contemplating to join the party.

Nandyal MP from YSR Congress Party SPY Reddy has met Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu in New Delhi and expressed his intention to join the party. Kurnool MP Butta Renuka is also holding negotiations with the Telugu Desam Party through her husband. Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party has begun damage control and the party leadership is attempting to prevent flocking to Telugu Desam Party. According to sources, as many as 30 leaders from the YSR Congress Party are ready to join Telugu Desam.

Nandayal MP SPY Reddy on Sunday met TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu at AP Bhavan in New Delhi and Kurnool MP Butta Renuka is likely to meet the TDP leader shortly. Renuka's husband Butta Neelakantam already met the TDP chief and their joining to the party is likely to be only a formality.

The meeting of these two MPs to TDP president raised eyebrows to the party leaders. YSRCP MLAs allege that the party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy meeting Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi is a calculated wrote step and said that the meeting is part of the plan of the party leaders to scarp the cases on him.

It is understood that these two leaders have been maintaining distance with the party leadership from the day one they were elected. Sources said that four or five MLAs from the YSRCP are planning to leave the party and switch over to TDP. It may be recalled that SPY Reddy too did not turn up for the meeting held at Idupulapaya.
Butta Renuka to continue in YSRCP
Kurnool MP Butta Renuka speaking to media after meeting the TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that she will continue as MP in YSRCP but will be associated with TDP. If the party takes action against her, she will contest again and added that she came to politics to serve the people.
