Court permits ICAI to take copies of quid pro quo charge sheets filed by CBI

February 11, 2014 - Hyderabad

With the Principal Special Court for CBI cases on Tuesday allowing a petition by the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICWA) seeking copies of five charge sheets filed by the CBI in the quid pro investments cases, paved the way for a suo motu inquiry by the ICAI against V Vijay Sai Reddy.

It may be recalled here that Vijay Sai Reddy is a practicing Chartered Account and the second accused in the case of Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The statutory body governing the practice of the CAs in the country has sought the copies of the CBI charge sheets in Jagati Publications, Ramky Group, Vanpic, Hetero drugs and Aurobindo Pharma aspects.

Sources said that ICAI had disqualified three CAs after conducting a probe into their practising methods related to the Satyam Computers scam and were barred from practising as CAs for the violations committed by them. It is likely to take a similar action against Vijay Sai Reddy too.
