Chief Secretary PK Mohanty resigns - Krishna Rao and Subba Rao in contention

Andhra Pradesh State Chief Secretary Prasanna Kumar Mohanty on Monday submitted his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan.

Sources said that the Governor Narasimhan has accepted the resignation and will come into effect from June 2.

The term of PK Mohanty will come to an end by June 30 and with the appointed day is June 2, there will be separate Chief Ministers to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and had he continued will have to be in the post for a just 29 days. He tendered the resignation to continue as a Chief Secretary for a smaller State for a just period of 29 days and with the intention that two States will have two Chief Ministers and two Chief Secretaries.

It may be recalled that the extension of Mohanty came into dispute with senior IAS officers IYR Krishna Rao lodges complaint to Centre for which no response was received.

Krishna Rao and Subba Rao would be new CS

IYR Krishna Rao and IV Subba Rao will be the new Chief Secretaries for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. However, the appointment of Subba Rao appears to be doubtful sine he is on deputation to WHO in France.
