'Chief Minister's action unwarranted' says Ponnala Lakshmiah

Terming the action of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy in divesting of M Sridhar Babu of the Legislative Affairs portfolio is unwarranted and unethical. After inaugurating the All India Industrial Exhibition on Wednesday in Hyderabad speaking press said that 'under the present circumstances it is like pouring petrol on fire', he said. Lakshmiah said that Ministers from Telangana were not questioning the authority of the Chef Minister but he ought to have exercised his prerogative in which acceptable to all, he said.
Chief Minister defends his action
The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy defending the move to divest Sridhar Babu of the legislative affairs portfolio said that it was his prerogative to allocate portfolios to the ministers and added that the changes are aimed at initiating a fruitful debate in the Assembly, he said to media. Giving another reasons, he said that the Commercial taxes is a revenue earning department. While it was under my change, I was not able to concentrate on it due to other pressing issues. As a result, the revenue collection form the commercial taxes wing had declined by 9.5 per cent. So, to improve the collections, I decided to allocate the portfolio to an efficient Minister like Sridhar Babu', he said.
AICC deputes Ramakrishna Kuntya
Meanwhile in a damage control mode, the AICC has deputed it's general secretary Rachandran Kuntya who arrived Hyderabad on Thursday. He is in a mission to set right the things surfaced following divesting of Sridhar Babu of Legislative affairs portfolio. Speaking press, he said that though the Chief Minister had the right to alter the portfolios, he would know in what circumstances, he (chief minister) did so and everything will be settled, he said. He added that it is not good at this juncture, he opined. He will be having a meeting with Sridhar Babu, Chief Minister and other T Ministers.
