Chandrababu Naidu elected as TDLP leader

Telugu Desam Party MLAs have on Wednesday elected the party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the leader of the Legislative Party at a meeting held on Sri Venkateswara University at Tirupati.

The formal election was held at 8.51pm, the time that is considered to be auspicious hour and senior party member and former Minister KE Krishna Murty proposed the name Naidu while was seconded by P Sujatha.

The venue of the meeting that paves the way for Naidu to become the Chief Minister of residuary Andhra Pradesh was the same that saw his elevation from a student leader to a politician. The University packed Senate Hall resembled a beehive of activity right form the morning with security check by senior policeman and last minute arrangements by party leaders. The university campus was cordoned off and security was on Chandragiri Road that leads to university campus.
