'Case will be booked against Sabbam Hari', says Chief Electoral Officer

May 6, 2014 - Hyderabad

Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh Bhanwar Lal said that the Election Commission would slap a case against Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha contestant Sabbam Hari for extending support to another party. Sabbam Hari earlier in the day announced that he is opting out of the elections and said the TDP-BJP alliance is good for the State.

Bhanwar Lal said that contesting on one party and extending backing to another party violates the Election Code. He added that Election Commission would declare him as dummy candidate and the expenditure involved will be credited to whom the contestant is extending support to. The CEO reiterated that all cases pertaining to elections will be taken up in fast track courts. He said that voters can cast their vote even though they do not possess voter slips but has to show a valid ID.
