'We cannot rush the Telangana Bill amidst the 'cacophony' in Parliament', says Jairam Ramesh

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh on Sunday speaking to a news channel said that Telangana Bill that it should not rush the proposed bill amid the 'cacophony' in Parliament. 'My personal belief is that such an important piece of legislation must be debated and discussed and not pushed through in din. We shouldn't have any unilateral initiative in the House. we have to bring BJP on board. We should try to create a larger consensus beyond BJP as well. We have four days left and hope we can get it done', said Jairam Ramesh.
Meanwhile YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy met CPI (M) leader Prakash Karat on Sunday in an effort to garner support against passage of the Bill. Prakash Karat said that Telangana Bill was not introduced in Lok Sabha and termed the Thursday incidents as most unfortunate. 'We condemn it. But we cannot accept the government's claim that the Telangana Bill has been tabled in Parliament. There was trouble in the House and Opposition cannot accept it', said Karat.
