CID files charge sheets in Volvo bus accident case

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday filed its report in the Volvo bus accident at Palem in Mahabubnagar district which killed 45 passengers around seven months ago.
The investigation agency framed charges under 38 sections of different Acts against the accused ten persons including JC Uma Reddy a close relative of former Minister J.C.Diwakar Reddy. The CID arrested three of a family owning Jabbar Travels that operated the bus, five of their staff members and Rahman of Diwakar Road Lines.
The agency said that the bus hit the parapet wall of a culvert abutting the main road and an iron pipe erected atop the culvert to act as railing broke and pierced into the fuel tank of the bus. The fuel got splattered inside the bus, sparks flying from the battery compartment due to the collision ignited flames and the driver by the time noticed and the passengers cried for help, blazes engulfed the entire bus killing them. The driver of the bus jumped out of it while the rest of passengers got burnt to death said the report.
It may be recalled here that a two year old kid and a pregnant woman were among those charred to death in the accident that occurred don the early hours of October 30 last while the Volvo bus belonging to Jabbar Travels coming from Bangalore to Hyderabad.
