CBI records statement of AP Governor Narasimhan in Agusta Westland scam

July 9, 2014 - Hyderabad

Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday recorded the Statement of the Andhra Pradesh State Governor ESL Narasimhan as witness in connection with the bribery allegations in the purchase of 12 VVIP helicopters from Agusta Westland.

Sources said that Narasimhan along with the then NSA MK Narayana and then SPG chief BV Wanchoo attended a meeting on March 1, 2005 a decision was taken making the deal eligible .

CBI had registered a case against former IAF Chief S P Tyagi along with 13 others including his cousins and European middlemen in the case. It was alleged that former Air Chief reduced flying ceiling of the helicopter so that AgustaWestland was included in the bids. Tyagi has refuted the allegation against him.
