Bus accident in Himachal Pradesh kills at least 20 passengers

A bus accident in Sangrah area of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh State killing at least 20 passengers leaving many injured.
The today bus accident being the second one in the State in less than a month. Sources said that 18 passengers including 8 women were killed on the spot while the rest with injuries and they were shifted to Rajgarh, Solan and Simla hospitals.
Superintendent of Police DW Negi told a news agency that the bus fell into a 400 m.deep gorge.
A private bus carrying nearly 35 passengers was on its way to Solan and the State Government has ordered for a magestrieal inquiry. The bus was on way from Shimla to Savera Khad in Sunni area of the district when the accident occurred near Kadhar Ghat in Basantpur area.
The Himachal Pradesh government immediately announced a financial relief of Rs.10,000 to the next of the kin of each victim.
It may be recalled here that 38 persons were killed on May 8 when overloaded bus with 70 passengers had plunged into the Beas river near Kullu town.
According to latest reports on Wednesday, 21 passengers were killed while 59 passengers injured seriously. The Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus skidded off and fell into a gorge near Sunni in Shimla district. The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh and Governor Urmila Singh expressed grief over the incident. 21 bodies of passengers were recovered and the injured were treated at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla.
