BJP demands announcement of new State Capital for residual Andhra Pradesh among 32 amendments


February 12, 2014 - New Delhi

Bharatiya Janata Party during dinner meeting on Wednesday demanded the Congress to address the concerns of the Seemandhra people.

It may be noted that the Prime Minister personally called up senior BJP leader L K Advani and Leaders of the Opposition in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley last night to invite them for dinner at his residence, according to sources.

The dinner was attended by top leaders of all political parties including LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Chidambaram, AK Anthony, Kamalanath, and Shushil Kumar Shinde among others. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sought the support of the BJP for the safe passage of AP State Reorganization Bill 2013.

Responding to it, BJP made it's stand clear by backing formation of Telangana , it has put conditions to support the bill, saying concerns of people from the Seemandhra region be addressed specifically in the legislation and the quantum of financial package to be given to it be spelled out. BJP wanted 32 amendments to the Bill. Prime Minister reportedly told that if the Bill is not passed now, it will be repeated in future too.
