*Teachers Day to be held in Vijayawada
Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh State Government ‘s function to celebrate the Teachers’ Day will be held on September 5 in Vijayawada. In a brief chat with the press, he said that the DSC notification to fill up more than 10,000 teachers’ posts would be issued and added that the DSC and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) will be held on the same day.

• EMACET rules out of including any new colleges
EAMCET authorities have ruled of including any new colleges in the first phase of counselling despite the court orders. AP State Council for Higher Education Chairman L Venugopal Reddy said that the authorities waited till Thursday evening expecting the list of colleges form the JNTUH to consider for inclusion in the web counselling. Since they have not received any list and there is no scope now, he said.

•Maha Aarti for Godavari Pushkarams
Endowments Minister Manikyala Rao said on Thursday that plans are afoot to organize ‘Maha Aarati’ during Godavari Pushkarams next year on the lines of Ganga Maha Aarati. He said special ghats were being arranged for conducting Maha Aarti at Rajahmundry, Kovvur and Narsapuram. He said that the Government was expecting a 40 per cent increase in number of pilgrims for Godavari Puksharams this time. The expenditure for the last pushkarams was to the tune of Rs.1200 crore and the Central Government contributed Rs.50

* SCR mans most of the unmanned level crossings
The South Central Rail has taken the first step and posted men at 560 of the 641 unmanned level-crossings in its jurisdiction in the back drop of the Masiapet train-bus collusion accident in which 18 people including 16 children died. The SCR General Manager PK Srivastava announced this at a press conference on Thursday. SCR spokesperson K Sambasiva Rao said that 1200 persons had been drafted for work at the 560 unmanned level crossings.

JC Sharma takes oath as Chairman of TTD Specified Authority
TIRUPATI: Principal Secretary Revenue (Endowments) JC Sharma on Thursday took oath as the Chairman of the TTD’s Specified Authority. The TTD Executive Officer MG Gopal administered oath of office at a brief function organized inside the temple of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. After taking oath, he went on in inspection spree to the temple potu and enquired about the preparation of the prasadams and the logistics involved in the making of the famous laddu.

YSRCP stages walk out from Assembly
HYDERABAD: YSRCP on Wednesday staged a walkout in protest against in not allotting sufficient time to the main Opposition party on Budget. He asked the Speaker to allot the allotted in earlier occasion to the Opposition Party leader. Speaking to press at the Assembly Committee hall, he said that the main job of the ruling party is to criticize YSR. He dared the ruling to give a governance of YSR beyond caste, creed, transparent and people welfare scheme. He asked it to extend a governance without hiking any charges on the people. Three cell phones and five SIM cards recovered from Jail
HYDERABAD: The DG of Jails Vijay Kumar Singh at a press conference on Wednesday said that they have recovered three cell phones and five SIM cards along with three pen drives and 20 grams of Ganja from a prisoner Yadagiri.

Loan waiver linked to Aadhar Card, Pattipati Pulla Rao
HYDERABAD: The Minister for Agriculture, P. Pulla Rao said that the loan waiver scheme is linked to Aadhaar card or voter card. He clarified that the scheme is not applicable to those who availed loans from January to March 31 during this year. The amount will be reimbursed to those who repaid loans prior to December 31.

Three member delegation visits VSP
VISAKHAPATNAM: A threw member delegation led by the Secretary, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Neetha Choudhary visited the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Wednesday. Neetha Choudary who reviewed the implementation of Hindi appreciated the efforts of Vizag Steel for implementing the Official Language Policy in the organization. VIZIANGARAM: District Collector MM Naik has directed the officials to prepare proposals for conducting a three day music festival in October. The Ministry of Tourism has selected the district for organizing the event and nominated the Collector as the Chairman while APTDC Divisional Manager and District Tourism officer are other members of the committee which will finalize the programme.

NSTL celebrates 45th Lab Raising Day
VISAKHAPATNAM: Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL) has celebrated its 45th Lab Raising Day on Wednesday. NSTL Director C Durga Malleswar presided over the event. He revealed various projects on the anvil and added that the laboratory successfully delivered various weapons and stealth systems are currently functional in warship. AU Vice Chancellor GSN Raju gave away the laboratory level awards to NSTL personnel in recognition of their contribution.

GAJUWAKA (Visakhapatnam): The Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Gajuwaka) P Dattatreyulu on Wednesday fined Venkataramaiah (who won on PRP ticket) with Rs.200 for violating model election code during the 2009 General Elections, under sec.283 of IPC for causing danger or obstruction in a public way.

504th coronation day of Srikrishnadevaraya celebrated
ANATAPUR: The 504th coronation day celebrations of Vijayanagara King Sri Krishnadevaraya kicked off on Wednesday at Penukonda mandal headquarters in Anatapur. The current celebrations fourth in a row, were reminiscent of the grandeur of the Vijayanagara empire. A massive public meeting was organized at the Government Junior College to mark the occasion.

KCR decisions affecting Andhra students-TNSF
KADAPA: The Telugu Nadu Students Federation State president Nadendla Brahmam Chowdary alleged on Wednesday that the decisions of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is racking up of regional feelings among students and taking decisions that jeopardized the interests of the poor Andhra Students studying in Hyderabad. Secunderabad-Vijayawada special trains
VIJAYAWADA: To clear extra rush of passengers, the SCR will run special tgrains between Secunderabad-Vijayawada and Aurangabad-Tirupati. The Secunderabad-Vijayawada special train will depart at Secunderabad at 11.15pm on September 5 and 12 and arrive in Vijayawada at 05.45am the next day. In return direction, the train will depart from Vijayawada at 11.00pm on September 4 and 11 and arrive at Secunderabad at 05.40am the next day. Aurangabad-Tirupati special train will depart from Aurangabad at 03.00pm on September 5 and 12 and arrive in Tirupati at 03.30pm the next day and in return, it will depart from Tirupati at 05.10pm on September 6 and 13 and arrive in Aurangabad at 8pm the next day.
