Rs.18 crore for rural roads in Chitoor
Chitoor: The Chitoor district administration has initiated steps to lay rural roads involving on expenditure of Rs.18 crore through the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana scheme. Six roads to Kuppam, Chitoor and Puthalapattu segments will be converted into BT Roads. The works included Thalamabedti-Cheelapalle road, covering 6.8 km, 5.5 km road between Chitoor and Mandi Krishnapuram rural road between Pogurupalle and Karnataka boarder covering 5.5 km Vijalapuram-Kilakipochi road.
GVMC to take up surprise visits on plastic ban
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Task Force formed to enforce ban on plastic bags below 40 microns thickness will make surprise visits. The task force is headed by the Zone Commissioner concerned and comprises the Assistant Medical Officer (health), assistant project director of Urban Community Development and the sanitary supervisor. The visit office, a fine of Rs.1,000 will be levied and subsequent office, a fine of Rs.2,000 be levied and shop will be seized.
MEIA report on PCPIR submitted
VISAKHAPATNAM: The phase I study report on the Marine Environment Impact Assessment (MEIA) for Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region area had been submitted to the PCPIR Special Development Authority by the consultancy agency INDOMER Coastal Hydraulics of Chennai.
HPCL blast victim Murali’s wife waits for Rs.1 crore ex-gratia
VISAKHAPATNAM: Chenda Jayalakshmi, wife of Ch.Murali, a tribal officer of HPCL Visakha Refinery killed in its cooling tower blast last year still waits for the ex-gratia of Rs.1 crore as was promised by the then Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gases M Veerappa Moily.
She said that she is planning to write a letter to the present Minister seeking for payment of ex-gratia. On the offer of the job, she said that the HPCL should make an offer of job to one of her children after attaining 18 years.
Jayalakshmi said that the management handed over a cheque for Rs.1 crore as advance out of total statutory and non-statutory payment of Rs.1.52 crore in which there was no mention of Rs.1 crore ex-gratia. She seeks immediate payment of ex-gratia.
Jagan writes to Prime Minister seeking national project status to Dummgudem
YSRCP president and leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested him to identify the Dummagudem-Nagarjunasagar project as National Project in the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Nearly 4 lakh acres of land will be benefitted with the project in the districts of Khammam, Warangal, West Godavari and Krishna, he said in his letter.
Welfare fund for Journalists’, says IT Minister
HYDERABAD: The Minister for IT Palle Raghunath Reddy said that a separate welfare fund would be created for the welfare of journalists. He said that the government would soon issue health cards to all eligible journalists.

P Krishnaiah appointed as Chairman APIIC
HYDERABAD: AP Government on Thursday appointed retired IAS officer P Krishnaiah as the Chairman of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). The Chief Secretary of Industries, JSV Prasad issued orders. He will be in the post for a period of two years. JV Satyanarayana was appointed as will hold additional charge as Executive Director. The other three directors are JSV Prasad, Sandeep Kumar Sultania and K Sambasiva Rao.

Government appoints new board of APSPHC
The State Government has constituted a new board for Andhra Pradesh Police Housing Corporation. The Home Ministry Principal Secretary will act as the Chairman. Senior IPS officer SA Huda will be the vice-chairman and MD. Telangana State Home Principal Secretary, AP and Telangana DGPs and Finance Department revenue secretaries with a total of 10 members will be the board directors.
Three die as Vehicle rams RTC bus
TIRUPATI: Three persons were killed and another suffered injuries in a road accident near Renigunta in the wee hours of Thursday. Police said that the deceased were identified as Ramesh, Madhusudhan and Sivarajan were natives of Coimbatore who came here to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy . The victims who were travelling in a car rammed into an RTC bus coming from the opposite direction on its way to Kurnool.

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh State Government has issued orders declaring eight organization including the CPI(M) and Singareni Karmika Samakhya as unlawful associations for a further period of one year under AP Public Security Act of 1992. The list is as goes. CPI(M), Revolutionary Democratic Front, Radical Youth League, Rythu Coolie Sangham, Radical Students Union, Singareni Karmika Samakhya, Viplava Karmika Samakhya and All India Revolutionary Students Federation.
Train services cancelled
HYDERABAD: Two weekly premium trains, Howrah-Chennai Central and Kamakhya (Guwahati)-Bangalore Cantonment. The Howrah-Chennai train has been cancelled on August 22 to 29 while Howrah train has been cancelled on August 23 to 30 and the Bangalore Cantonment-Guwahati for August 26 cancelled.
14,000 to take Civil preliminary examinations in Vijayawada
VIJAYAWADA: Nearly 14,640 candidates have applied for the examination and a total of 31 centres with 31 observers have been appointed to oversee the Civil Preliminary Examination to be held on Sunday. The Joint Collector J Murali said that the test will be held in two parts on Sunday. Examination for Part 1 will start at 9.40am and Part – 2 at 2.40pm.This is the first time that Vijayawada was selected for the Civil Services (preliminary examination)

Police arrested two home guards on charges of impersonation
VISAKHAPTNAM: The city police have arrested two persons impersonating home guards on Thursday according to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) S Varada Raju. The arrested are Vasupalli Dasu and Tholada Konda Babu used to draw salaries and special allowances every month with the fake bank accounts.
