Three year old tiger drown in NSP canal
ONGOLE: The body of a three year old tiger was spotted by locals in the Nagarjuna Sagar Project Right Canal near Chimakurthy in Prakasam district on Sunday. Police retrieved the body of the dead tiger. The post morteum report said that it was found that the animal died of lack of air to the lungs after it fell into the water. Ongole Forest Range Officer G Prakasa Rao said that it was an accidental death and not the work of poachers as both the skin and nails are intact.
Tirupati Temple replica at Godavari Pushkarams
RAJAHMUNDRY: The TTD is arranging for the replica of Tirumala Temple to be installed in Rajahmundry in connection with upcoming Godavari Maha Pushkarams. It may come up in the premises of the Government College or in the Municipal stadium. During the period of Pushkarams, the TTD has decided to perform daily rituals.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is also construction a convention Centre and hotel for an estimated cost of Rs.4 crore in Gowthami Ghat area.
Passenger held while carrying a bullet
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Airport police took a woman passenger into custody when she was caught carrying a bullet in her purse during security check at the Visakhapatnam Airport. She was identified as Gurpreet Kaur is the daughter of a naval officer and was on her way to Pune. Police are investigating the case.
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao release ‘Pyasa’
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao has released a book entitled ‘Pyasa’ written by versatile film artiste Tanikella Bharani on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his views on the development of the city on various fronts and assured of all help to the film industry. He lauded the services of Tanikella Bharani as a director, actor and writer. The Minister felt the need of an auditorium like Ravindra Bharati and also for an open-air auditorium.
Annadanam programme launched
The Minister has launched the Annadanam programme at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy temple at Simahchalam on Sunday. Under the scheme, free meals are provided to at least 5,000 devotees every day.
