TDP leader killed and YSRCP man attacked
GUNTUR: A TDP leader D Venkatram Reddy was hacked to death allegedly by YSRCP workers at Papayapalem village in Bellamkonda mandal on Wednesday. Two groups of people owing allegiance to TDP and YSRCP clashed in the morning but reportedly said that the YSRCP men attacked the deceased with hunting sickles killing him on the spot. In another incident, YSRCP activist G Ramesh was attacked by unidentified persons with axes and sticks at Vipparla village of Krosu mandal and assailants too him for dad and fled the spot. He was noticed by some villagers who rushed him to hospital for treatment.
High Court permits to withdraw writ on Governor’s powers
HYDERABAD: The High Court on Thursday permitted the petitioner L Panduranga Reddy who filed a petition challenging the constitutional validity of Section 8 of AP State Reorganization Act to withdraw the petition. The Court suggested the petition to file PIL instead of a regular writ petition as the contents of the petition involved in public interest. The counsel for the petitioner withdrew the petition in order to file a separate PIL.
Municipal Administration Minister Narayana sworn in as MLC
HYDERABAD: The Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana was sworn in as Member of Legislative Council on Thursday. He was declared as elected to the Council unopposed. With this he fufilled the constitutional obligation of becoming a member of either House of the Legislature within six months of his appointment as Minister.

• Aadhaar link must for ration card and LPG
District Supply Officer K Nirmalabai in a press release issued aid that every LPG consumer has to submit a copy of his or her Aadhaar card to the Fair Price shop dealer and LPG dealer concerned. Those not submitting details of Aadhaar card would face difficulties in receiving government subsidies in future, she advise. She said free Aadhar registration was arrangement at the Mee Seva centres in Mandal headquarters for the benefit of the rural people.
• RINL bags award
RINL has been conferred with SAP ACE 2014 award for its successful Enterprise Resource Planning implementation following end-to end solution approach in procurement and other modules. A RINL release said that the award was awarded to a ceremony organized by SP and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in New Delhi on Thursday. RNIL Executive Director (F&A) GN Murty and Deputy General Manager (ERP) SN received the award from President of SAP Asia Pacific Japan Region Adaire Fox-Martin and SAP India Managing Director Ravi Chauhan.
• UAN allotted to all EPF subscribers
Universal Account Number(UAN) has already been allotted to each contributing EFP member, regional Provident Fund Commissioner – II SRO Visakhapatnam RK Sahoo said. In a statement, he said that UAN would provide facilities including portability of PF account number across different employments.
• SHO of Harbour police station Duppala Rajeswara Rao has been selected by the Central Government for the prestigious Indian Police Medal for meritorious service. The award will be given away by the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the Independence Day function at Kurnool on Friday. He received 35 cash rewards, earned 197 Good Service Entries, received four letters of commendation and 134 letters of appreciation from senior officers.
• Vishal Gunni to take over OSD
VISAKHAPTNAM: Narsipatnam ASSP Vishal Gunni has been elevated as OSD Narsipatnam. A 2010 batch IPS officer, Vishal replaces AR Damodar. The OSD of Narsipatnam hold the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations). The posting of Damodar is still awaited.

Bid on former Chief Justice of India conviction upheld
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday upheld the conviction of Santosh Anand Avdhoot and Sudevanand Avdhoot and the 10 year jail term given to them for attempting to assassinate the then Chief Justice of India AN Ray in 1975.
Life sentence award to Rana for killing Bandit queen
NEW DELHI: Sher Singh Rana the lone convict in the sensational murder of bandit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi in 2001 was on Thursday awarded life imprisonment by a city court that also imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh on him.
13 Bills passed in Lok Sabha
NEW DELHI: 13 Bills were passed in the first Budget Session of the Lok Sabha that had 27 sittings. Debate on Railway budget lasted for 13 hours and 16 minutes in which 243 MPs participated. The session also saw the introduction of 20 Bills and members raised 607 maters of urgent public importance.
Two Jet Airways pilots suspended
NEW DELHI: The DGCA has ordered two Jet Airways pilots to be taken off the roster pending inquiry into the sudden descent of their flight by 5,000 feet over Turkish airspace last week.
