    HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party's 3D campaign finally hit the road on Thursday with the Election Commission authorities giving their nod for operation of the vehicles fitted with the hologram technology for the election campaign. The TDP campaign managers are gearing up to deploy vehicles in Seemandhra region from Friday.

  • Cine actor Hema to file nomination on April 19
    AMALAPURAM: Cine actor Hema will be contesting on Jai Samikhayndhra Party from Mandapeta on April 19. Participating in a rally on the eve of filing of nomination by GV Harsha Kumar on Wednesday, she said that she is entering into politics with the spirit of Jai Samaikyandhra. She said that she will be available to the people of the assembly and will strive for the development, if elected, said Hema.
  • YS Jagan to file nomination from Pulivendula Assembly segment
    YSR District: YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be filing his nomination from Pulivendula Assembly Constituency on Thursday morning at 11am.
    Jagan paid tributes to his father and former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy by placing flowers at his Samadi. He placed nomination papers at the Samadi and address a public meeting at Angalla circle. From there, he will go to the Tahsildar office and submit his nomination papers at 11am.
  • 2 Kilo gold looted at a jewellery shop
    CHITOOR: Around midnight on Wednesday, some unidentified persons have robbed of two kilo gold and cash of Rs.5 lakh by inuring the owner of the gold shop. According to sources, Venkatesh, the owner of a gold shop when coming after he alighted from a train was forcibly taken to shop and got it opened and looted the gold. He was severally injured and was on medical treatment.

  • Daggubati Purandeswari to contest form Rajampet
    HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded former Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari for Lok Sabha constituency from Rajampet. Although the BJP was keen to field her either from Vijayawada or Ongole Lok Sabha seat, its electoral alliance partner TDP did not oblige and the party finally opted for Rajampeta seat. She would be facing her Sai Pratap.
  • Hyderabad revenue would be for Telangana’, says Sonia Gandhi
    KARIMNAGAR: AICC president Sonia Gandhi in her public speech on Wednesday at Karimnagar said that the revenue generated from Hyderabad would go to Telangana State. Giving Telangana a ten year tax holiday to establish new industries, she said that Pranahita-Chevella and Palamoor lift irrigation schemes would be accorded national project status. She urged the voters to back the Congress for the bright future of the State of Telangana. She said that the promises Congress make will be fulfilled.
  • TDP to finalize contestants in the all left over seats in Seemandhra
    Telugu Desam Party will on Thursday will finalize the names of the all the Assembly seats. TDP has so far finalized the names of 132 candidates out of the 161 candidates from where it will field its candidates in Seemandhra region that will go to polls on May 7. TDP nominees are anxiously awaiting some initiative from TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu to pacify the rebels in ensuring that there is no spilt in votes. The central leadership has completed the selection of its nominees for all the 21 Lok Sabha seats releasing the list of candidates on Tuesday night.

    VISAKHAPATNAM: Sundarapu Vijay Kumar who launched a fast on Tuesday after he was denied party ticket from Yellamanchili Assembly constituency called off his fast on Wednesday. He decided to file nominations as an independent, according to reliable sources. He had gone to meeting Chandrababu Naidu following a call from him and his supporters sat in the fast in his absence. After visiting Naidu, he said that he decided to contest as an Independent.
  • TDP leader’s house attacked
    ARAKU: The house of Dr Ravibabu who was allotted Araku Valley ticket after he shifted loyalties from YSRCP to TDP a few days ago was attacked by miscreants on Wednesday morning and burnt some pieces of furniture. According to the complaint lodged by the farm house watchmen said that 15 persons came to the farm housed and wanted to congratulate Dr Ravibabu after being allotted TDP ticket. After entering into the farm house, they poured petrol on a soft set, chairs and set them on fire.
  • YSRCP candidate Baby Nayana assets stands at Rs.22 crores
    VIZIANGARAM: The YSRCP candidate for Parliamentary seat RVS Ranga Rao (Baby Nayana) assets stood at Rs.22,64,15,438 while his liabilities were shown at Rs.1.39 crores in his affidavit submitted to Election authorities. The annual income of the candidate is Rs.1.53 crore.
  • YS Vijayamma to file nomination papers on Thursday
    VISAKHAPATNAM: YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma will file her nomination for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha on Thursday. Sources said that she will be accompanied by her daughter Sharmila. After garlanding the statue of YSR at Maddilapalem, they along with Konathala Ramakrishna and Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and part cadre will go to Jytirao Phule’s state and 11 and will proceed to District Collector’s office in a procession and file her nomination.
  • Commercial Taxes Commissioner asks Traders to apply for TIN by month end.
    VISAKHPATNAM: Commissioner of Commercial Hiralal Samariya on Wednesday said that they had a big challenge ahead in allotting new Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and informed the traders that April 30 was the last date for online registration. He said that registration certificates would be generated on May 8. Registration certificates would be issued on or after June 2.
  • Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu will tour in Vizianagaram district today. He will speak in public meetings at four constituencies today. Chandrababu Naidu will begin his Vizianagaram tour at 11 am from Bobbili. He will address meeting in Parvathipuram at 2 pm, Gajapathinagaram at 4 pm and in Vizianagaram at 6 pm.
  • Former union minister Daggubati Purandeswari will contest from Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency in Kadapa district. Her name was confirmed by the BJP party sources.
  • Chief Election Commissioner Sampath will visit Hyderabad tomorrow. The Election Commission will inspect the arrangements for polling in the State.
