Aadhaar-consumer LPG delinked

The Centre has decided to do away with the much criticised Aadhaar based Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) transfer scheme as clear directives have been issued de-linking the gas subsidy have been issued to the gas authorities.
With this, the distributors have been asked to start implementing the Aadhaar-less LPG scheme from Monday onwards. However, those already booked for a cylinder and getting it before March 10 however have to pay non-subsidized price.
Authorities said that almost all gas distributors would start selling cylinders at Rs.441 from Monday.
Consumers will be eligible to avail 12 subsidized cylinders between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Consumers who have already booked nine cylinders can book two more cylinders by March 31, 2014 at the subsidized price.
