AP Government announces new Sand mining policy

The Andhra Pradesh Government has unveiled a new Sand Mining policy that makes all sand reaches in the State will be in the direct control of AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC).

Under the new sand mining policy, the APMDC will allot sand reaches to District/Mandal Mahila Samakhyas or Grama Sanghams for undertaking sand quarrying. The entire process of sand mining will be monitored using CC cameras at quarry sites and stock points.

All payments will be only through banks and no cash transaction will be allowed. AMPDC, Department of Mines& Geology and the department of Rural Development at the State Level and the District Collector and SP at the district level will provide guidance and support.

APMDC will allot sand reaches to Mandal Mahila Samakhyas or Grama Sanghams for undertaking sand quarrying depending on the potential of each sand reach.

Under the new policy, District Level Sand Committee headed by Collector will identify sand bearing areas in streams of III, IV, V and above order.
