'52 criminal cases pending on AP MLAs and MPs', reveals Forum for Good Governance

MPs and MLAs from the State are facing as many as 52 criminal cases and majority of them were registered five years ago, said M Padmanbha Reddy, secretary of Forum for Good Governance.
Expressing his happiness over the Supreme Court direction for speedy disposal of the cases on MLAs and MPs, he said that cases of these types should not be withdrawn but 101 cases registered in 2009 elections were withdrawn said in a letter to the Election Commission.
Padmanbha Reddy said that the present MP from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy is still facing a case of attack on police station on way back on December 27, 1988. MP Akbaruddin Owaisi is facing 19 criminal cases and some of them belong to 10 year back.
He wanted the Election Commission to see that the candidates with crime history should not step into the law making houses.
