2,243 candidates in fray for Assembly in Andhra Pradesh

After withdrawal of nominations is over by Wednesday, a final picture was emerged with 333 candidates in fray for 25 Lok Sabha seats in Seemandhra while 2,243 candidates remains in fray for Assembly for 175 seats that are going to polls on May 7.

Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal speaking to media sad that out of 446 nominations filed, 60 were rejected and 53 candidates withdrew their nominations. ON the whole, 600 candidates are contesting in both Telangana and Seemandhra regions for 42 parliamentary constituencies and 3,912 candidates for 294 Assembly constituencies.

First phase of Polling of April 30

Bhanwar Lal said that the first phase of elections on April 30 and the polling would be held from 7am to 4pm in 11 left wing extremism affected assembly constituencies and the remaining 108 constituencies, it will be from 7am to 6pm. Second Phase of Polling on May 7.

The Chief Electoral officer said that the second phase of polling will be held from 7am to 4pm in 10- Left Wing Extremism affected assembly constituencies and the remaining 165 constituencies it will be held from 7am to 6pm.

Rs. 111 crore seized

Bhanwar Lal said that flying squads and police seized Rs.111 crore under poll code violation. Of the 71,222 polling stations, 40,000 polling stations would be covered under live webcast and the remaining will be covered with videography, micro observers. Distribution of photo voter slips to the electors by booth-level officers' commenced and would be completed by April 26, he said.
