Telugu Desam Party MPs submits memorandum to Railway Minister seeking Railway Zone

Demanding creation of South Central Railway Zone in Visakhapatnam, Telugu Desam Party MPs on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda.
The TDP MPs – Kesineni Srinivasa, Maganti Muralimohan and Avanthi Srinivasa told to the Minister that Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal, Visakhapatnam divisions could be brought together to form the new railway zone. They discussed the various issues pertaining to Andhra Pradesh apart from this demand. They told the Union Minister to take up doubling of the Vijayawada-Kurnool line immediately and also wanted step to run an inter-city train between Vijayawada and Kurnool.
BJP leader Cheruvu Ramakotaiah said that the agitations for creation of a separate Railway Zone is on for the last one decade. He said that a Railway Zone Sadana Committee that has been formed a couple of years ago had no meaning if the issue is not taken to the streets of Delhi. He said that the people had high hopes on Narendra Modi and Chandrababu Naidu Governments on the issue.
The plus points of Visakhapatnam is that the availability of 782 acres of railway land as against less than 190 acres available in Vijayawada and Guntur divisions. It is the fourth highest revenue earner among all the 70 divisions in the country and a major railway junction can be developed on the lines of Chennai and Kolkata. The earnings is Rs.6,200 crore for the last financial years as against Rs.3,200 crores for Vijayawada and Rs.500 crores of Guntur divisions.
