Eleven under-trail prisoners undergoing treatment at the Institute of Mental Health in Eragadda while seven of them were nabbed later from different parts of the city, said the police.
Police sources said that the incident occurred last night when a prisoner Qureshi was shifted to the hospital for metal sickness and he made a hold in the wall by using oxygen cylinder and slipped out and made his way out along with some prisoners, said police sources. Police who swung into action and special teams caught seven of them and a hunt has been launched to nab the remaining four prisoners, said the DCP (West Zone) V Satyanarayana. He said that Qureshi was angry for not being permitted to meet his second wife and resorted to this act. A hospital official said "Since the day he was admitted in the hospital he behaved violently and regularly threatened the doctors, nurses, hospital staff and even police personnel deployed on duty over 'mulaqat' timings."
