Telugu application software 'TelugumAta' launched

The Information and Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmiah on Monday launching the 'TelugumAta' software said that it was for the first time in the country that SMS service was being made available in a regional language.
The Telugu software an application for android and Ios-based mobile phones and tabs/pads for software for providing SMS service in Telugu was developed by the AP Society for Knowledge Networks. The application would help popularise Telugu language and extend it as heritage to the technology driven future generations of Telugu language.
Lakshmiah said that mobile users get a virtual keyboard in Telugu by downloading the application from the portal. He said that the forts embedded in the application were Unicode-registered they would be displayed without any glitch in all Android and Ios phones. He said that Andhra Pradesh was the first State in the world to get a Unicode membership.
Chairman of Official Language Commission Mandali Buddha Prasad said there were over 11 crore Telugu speaking people in the world including 8.5 core in the State and as many as 8.5 crore mobile users are there, he said. Buddha Prasad said that a new department 'Bhaska Samskrtika Shaka' would come and all government websites would also be made available in Telugu along with English, he said.
