Summoned MLAs keeps away from hearing

May 13, 2013 - Hyderabad

Fifteen MLAs from the Congress and TDP parties sailing with the YSR Congress Party stuck to their earlier stand demanding the Speaker to disqualify them from the Assembly. The MLAs who were summoned by the Speaker kept away from the hearing.

The nine Congress MLAs who are supposed to depose before the Speaker not only ignored the notices but faxed their replies to the Speaker's office reiterating their earlier stand. The rest of the MLAs are supposed to depose before the Speaker on Tuesday. The rebel MLAs maintained that they knowingly defied the whip and saw a conspiracy by the Congress and TDP as the two parties wanted them to be disqualified but not prepared to face by-elections. They wanted the Speaker to disqualify them and notify the vacancies and hold by-polls.
