Police constable arrested on rape charges sent to judicial remand

The East Zone police on Monday arrested a police constable D Venkata Rao who allegedly raped a woman. The police produced him before the Third Metropolitan Magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.
The accused who was attached to the Kankipadu East Central Crime Station has been placed under suspension. It may be recalled here that a 23 year old woman who came to the police station on December 2 to lodge a complaint against her husband in a family case was allegedly lured on the guise of helping her and was raped.
According to the complainant, the constable took her to a private house in Kankipadu village and allegedly committed the crime repeatedly, said the police inspector K Dharmendra who is investigating the case.
VRO arrested in a similar charge
In another similar case, the Nandivada police arrested Village Revenue Officer B Pandu for allegedly raping a 30 year old woman in Krishna district. According to the victim, the VRO engaged the women to assist him five months ago and raped her after giving her a soft drink laced with sedatives. The victim complained that he had taken her nude photographs with a mobile phone when she was unconscious and threatened to make them public if she did not continue the relationship. The police seized the mobile phone.
