Police arrests two youth on charges of possession of Ketamine drug

Task Force police on Friday arrested two degree students Feroz Ahmed and Mohammed Ayub Imran for alleged possession of 12 grams of Ketamine drug at Pramount Colony, Banjara Hills. Police said that they were in the habit of consuming and selling the contraband. They said Officials said ketamine is a substance which stimulates nerves and acts as a mood-elevator. "It is meant for anesthetic usage. In fact, it should not be sold to people without prescription from a doctor," police said. Officials said the department of revenue of the Union finance ministry had issued a notification on February 10, 2011 including ketamine in the list of psychotropic substances. Preparation, possession and consumption of ketamine are offences under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
