Panabaka asks Hyderabad to be made UT for 10 years
October 20, 2013 - Nellore
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi told the media that she requested the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana to keep Hyderabad as a Union Territory for 10 years if bifurcation of the State is inevitable. She spoke to media at her residence in Bapatla.
She has requested the Centre to keep the state united, Lakshmi said. However, in case bifurcation is inevitable, the rights of people hailing from Seemandhra in Telangana are to be protected, she added. The Coastal Andhra region has to be developed post bifurcation by setting up IIT, NIT, IIM, AIMS and research facilities, she added.
Commenting on the coalgate scam, Panabaka Lakshmi has said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has no role in the scam. She also lashed out against certain Congress Ministers, MPs and MLAs who enjoyed power while in Congress party and now joining other political parties. She refused to comment on the recent Rayapati's comments on new party in Seemandhra. Panabaka Lakshmi has made it clear that she would contest from Bapatla in the 2014 general elections.
