- Two spurious water packing units penalized
The Bureau of Indian Standards has conducted a raid at a packaged water manufacturing facility of M/s Abdul Ghani Beverages, Mirzapur, Medak district. The water pouches made by the company with the brand name 'Aqua Liliac' do not have BIS licence and has fake ISI mark according to a press statement. Action has been initiated against the company for the offence which is punishable with imprisonment up to one year or a fine of Rs.50,000 or both. In another related case, the first additional judicial magistrate first class court at Mancherial has imposed a fine of Rs.30,000 penalty against M/s Suraksha Industries.
- BJP wants party high command to put pressure for aid
The BJP state president G Kishan Reddy urged the party's National President Rajnath Singh to put pressure on the Centre in ensuring that liberal assistance was provided for the State that was ravage by Phailin super cyclone recently. In a memorandum submitted on Saturday, he said while 25 people were dead, lakhs of people saw their homes being inundated and crop in several lakh acres were badly affected. He said that in the past when the State was hit by severe droughts and cyclones, the Centre had turned a deaf ear for the assistance.
- YS Vijayamma demands waiver of crop loans
YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma demanded the State Government to waive of all crop loans and fresh loans be granted to the framers in the flood hit areas in the State. She said that farmers would not recover from the shocking losses if both the State and Central Governments did not extend help to them at this juncture immediately. She visited the flood affected areas in Jaggaiahpet and Nandigama assembly constituencies in Krishna district and interacted with the farmers. She said as an immediate measure, the state government should announce waiver of crop loans either on its own or with the permission of the Centre. She said cotton, maize and paddy farmers received massive losses due to heavy rains and inefficiency of the government. She wanted them to respond to the plight of the farmers and support them in the hour of crisis.
