Major Political parties join hands with Forum for Protection of United Andhra
December 21, 2013 - Hyderabad
Almost all political parties in the State have shared a platform of the APNGOs who organized an all-party meeting in bid to garner their support for keeping the State of Andhra Pradesh united.
A meeting of the political parties including representatives of Congress, TDP, CPI (M) and Lok Satta except YSRCP, MIM and CPI attended the meeting. However no broad consensus on forming a joint action committee achieved cutting across the party lines. Minister S Sailajanath and MP Sabbam Hari from Congress, MPs YS Chowdary, K Narayana Rao and CM Ramesh and MLAs EE Prabhakar and P Keshav from TDP, Y Venkateswara Rao and S Verraiah from CPI (M) and K Srinivasa Rao from Lok Satta attended the all-party meeting.
While Congress and TDP expressed their willingness to join hands with the employees, students and other sections, the CPI (M) and Lok Satta said they preferred to continue independently.
Prefers coordination panels instead of JAC
Majority of the representatives opined that there is no use of forming JACs and instead decided to form coordination committees at the district levels to carry the movement forward. It was decided that all the 158 MLAs from Seemandhra would file affidavits against bifurcation and the same would be forwarded to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee along with the views of the legislature.
YSRCP not to share common platform
It may be recalled that the YSRCP had responded to the invitation and said that in a letter to APNGOs that it could not share the platform with the parties having dual standards.
