Chief Minister Kiran Kumar rules out special Assembly session on division issue
October 18, 2013 - Hyderabad
The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday rejected the YSRCP demand to hold a special session of the Assembly to enable the House to take up a resolution for keeping the State united. He questioned the need for such a session ahead of the winter Session when a delegation of YSRCP MLAs led by Shoba Nagi Reddy met him at the Secretariat.
They staged a sit in dharna in front of the Chief Minister's block in support of their demand and raised slogans in support of their demand. The police arrested the agitating leaders and were taken to Saifabad police station and released later.
The MLAs said that a special session before the draft Bill would enable the members to express their views on the issue of bifurcation and table a resolution against the division in the larger interests of the people. They pointed out that pace of the process of division has increased with GoM taking stock of the situation and chalking out the action plan. They later met the Speaker and submitted a similar memorandum.
