Home Minister Shinde visits blast site


February 22, 2013 - Hyderabad

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde visited the Hyderabad bomb blast site in the morning today. He was accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Shinde reached Hyderabad early in the morning and drove straight to Dilsukhnagar where the bomb blast killed 13 people and injured over 83 in the twin blasts yesterday. He interacted with the senior police officials who briefed him over the blasts. Union Home Secretary RK Singh and NIA officials were also present during the Shinde's visit.

The Union Home Minister also visited and consoled the victims of the blast admitted to the Nampalli care hospitals.

Media conference

The Home Minister addressed a press conference at 8:30 am. He announced that the number of causalities in the bomb blast has reached 14 and 119 others were injured. The condition of 6 among the injured is said to be critical.

Shinde added that the State government has already appointed an investigation team to probe the issue. He refused to divulge any more information since it would hamper the investigation process. Shinde confirmed that there was no specific area being mentioned in the intelligence reports they received a couple of days ago of a possible blast.
