High Court grants interim suspension order of CAT on conferred IAS posts

The Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice A Shankar Narayana on Friday suspended a Common Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order directing the Union Government not to finalize selection of IAS officer for conferred IAS posts till their names of another six officers are not included.
The plea of the six officers who contended to be eligible for inclusion in the list, the CAT directed the State Government to send their names to the Central Government and UPSC for election of conferred IAS posts. It also directed not to finalise the selection process till their names were received by it.
The 14 officers who were in the section list already sent moved the High Court contending that the tribunal order was contrary to the rules.
The court after hearing the petitioners and respondents felt that the tribunal order was against the rules and granted interim suspension of the order and made it clear that the selection process could go on but any selection and promotion would be subjected to the final outcome of the petitions.
