Health Principal Secretary assures direct recruitment to fill assistant professor posts in teaching hospitals

The Principal Secretary, Health LV Subramanya held discussions with the Junior Doctors as per the directive from the AP High Court on Thursday to resolve their grievances.
It may be recalled here that the Junior Doctors were on strike till recently demanding direct recruitment of doctors in government sector rather than one year compulsory rural service, regular payment of stipend, maintenance of hospitals among others and the government filed an appeal against High Court's interim order that the compulsory rural service was the policy decision of the government.
Notification by September 15 for direct recruitment
Officials said that a notification would be issued by September 15 for direct recruitment to fill 570 vacancies of assistant professors in teaching hospitals and would be filled with the lateral movement of in-service doctors. On the issue of payment of stipend, the department would request the Finance Department to include stipend of junior doctors in the green channel for regular and timely payments. Officials said that recruitment to fill vacant posts in Vaidya Vidhana Parishad and civil assistant surgeon posts in rural areas, primary health centre would be taken up in a sequential drive.
