Court dismisses CBI petition to lodge Jagan and Vijay Sai in separate jails

June 24, 2013 - Hyderabad

A court on Monday turned down the request of the CBI to lodge the YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his auditor V Vijay Sai Reddy in separate jails as they could hatch further conspiracies if they continued to be detained in the Chanchalguda central prison. The judge rejecting a memo observed that detention of the accused in any prison was the job of the jailor on the orders passed by the court. And the prison authorities intimated to the court that these two were kept in separate special category enclosures that barred access to each other and were staying apart by five rooms. It went by the argument of the defence that Vijay Sai Reddy used to meet Jagan Mohan Reddy when the former was out on bail and the CBI did not make an issue out of it and there was no complaint that Vijay Sai Reddy tried to tamper with evidence till he was sent back to prison on cancellation of bail. The Court noted the defence counsel argument that the move was preconceived and aimed to harass his clients.
